Jenny's Story
Like many Chinese, I grew up in the countryside of Jiangxi province. My parents worked hard in the factories and on our small farm. When I was old enough I was asked to go to Shanghai to make money to support the family. But this was difficult without a high education and at that time I knew little English. I often met Westerners who shared advice which always included building new skills. So I learned English and eventually found the tourism industry and became an English-speaking guide. I loved meeting people and seeing their face light up with new experiences and I could tell that my enthusiasm for sharing the culture and history of China made them happy. I learned the secrets of being a great guide were simple - care about the customer, meet their needs, help them learn, reduce their stress and of course, help them have fun! I was a pretty good guide and along the way met many great friends who were also guides (some better than me I have to admit!). After three years of being a guide, I decided to start Jenny's Shanghai Tours. Of course I wanted to make more money, but it's deeper than that. I want to create the best experiences for visitors, help my guide friends work with the best customers to make a decent living and to build relationships with people so I can help them again and again. Today we focus on Southern China (and we just added Beijing!) but my dream is to transition to Jenny's China Tours to help you have the best experience in China possible wherever you want to go. That's my story. I look forward to hearing yours soon! Our "No worries" Cancellation Policy

Hello everyone! I am Portia. I've been a Shanghai tour guide for over 6 years. I became a guide after starting in human resources but found I just need to be out in Shanghai and sharing this great city with travelers. One trait I'm proud of is that I'm a problem solver! So any situation we encounter - no matter how complicated - we'll work out together. I can't wait to meet you and share what I know about Shanghai.

Hello all! My name is Celine and I'm 24 years old local Shanghainese. I have worked in tourism for over 3 years, but I have dreamed of being a tour guide since childhood. I am passionate about life and this job gives me the chance to communicate with different kinds of people from all over the world. It will always help me stay excited and motivate me to keep improving myself in service. I believe that attitude and details determine your success. I love my home, and very much look forward to your arrival and sharing Shanghai with you.

Hello everyone, this is Kim. I come from the Henan province of China, just Northwest of Shanghai. I'm new to being a tour guide after getting my tour guide certificate in 2016. But working with Jenny has been a great experience! I like to think I'm a quick learner and love to share my knowledge of Shanghai with visitors. I have especially enjoyed leading the Backstreets of Old Shanghai Bike Tour and helping customers see real Shanghai and meet locals.
I look forward to meeting you in Shanghai! |
Hello everyone, this is Peggy! I was born and grew up in Shanghai. I traveled with my parents around China from my childhood, so nobody was surprised when I chose Tourism English as my major at the university. As a licensed English-Speaking tour guide, I already have more than 10 years’ experience being a private tour planner and travel guide. As a typical Shanghai girl, I’m so familiar with my city, traveling with me will give you much more insights about Shanghai sites as well as glimpses into popular destinations from the perspective of a local resident. I believe I have characteristics of being capable, knowledgeable, fun and open and I hope I can be your gateway to a more fulfilling trip. So whether you need help bargaining, want more historical facts, or just want to hear about our daily lives, I would be so happy to oblige. Hope I can help to create a memorable experience for anyone coming to visit Shanghai!
