What You Can Expect

As this is a private tour, you can choose your desired starting point and time: Based on the option you select, we'll either pick you up at your centrally located hotel in Shanghai at 7:30AM (you'll first relax on the 1-hour train ride to Hangzhou) or your central Hangzhou hotel or railway station based on your preferred start time, normally 9:00AM.​

• First, you'll make a visit to the Leifeng Pagoda, a five stories tall tower with eight sides, located on Sunset Hill south of the West Lake in Hangzhou, China. Originally constructed in the year AD 975. At one point a superstition said that the bricks from the tower could repel illness or prevent miscarriage and many people stole bricks from the tower to grind into powder. It was reconstructed in 2002, composed of a 1400 tonne steel structure with 200 tonnes of copper parts. It contains four sightseeing elevators, and modern amenities such as air conditioners, televisions, and speakers. At the entrance of the pagoda, there are two autonomous escalators to carry visitors to the base of the pagoda. It offers a unique experience with grand views of West Lake and all of Hanzhou.
• After here, you'll make your way to SongCheng Park. Located southwest of Hangzhou's West Lake, the Songcheng Scenic Area is a theme park featuring the culture of Song Dynasty (960-1279). It is the most popular theme park in China, attracting over 6 million visitors every year.  The entire experience can take visitors back to the ancient dynastical times of 1,000 years ago. People dressed in the style of Song walk around, perform, and carry tourists around in a sedan chair. Here you will feel like returning to the Song Dynasty, returning to that kind of culture and prosperity. It targets local Chinese, but Westerners love it too! Having a guide help you navigate the top sites quickly to spend an amazing 3-4 hours at this park. 
• In SongCheng park, you'll also enjoy the Eternal Love of Song Dynasty Show.  The show includes scenes from the time of the Song dynasty. Performance, decor, costumes, music, songs and dance and are spectacular and present the lives of the local ancients, the palace of the Song Dynasty, the legend of the Yue Army, the external farewell story of the Butterfly Lovers and the Legend of the White Snake.
• From SongChen Park, you'll head to Hefang Street to enjoy a casual stroll down this old street filled with fascinating folk culture, Chinese tea, traditional Chinese medicine, local cuisine and historic shops. In keeping with the theme, it has be reconstructed to reflect the time period of the Song Dynasty. 
• ​After all, you'll then take the high-speed train to back to Shanghai and be taken back to your hotel or go back to your Hangzhou pick up location.

An Amazing Option - Enduring Memories of Hanghzou
If you'd like to make your trip to Hangzhou truly spectacular, we recommend staying a little longer and watching this special performance - Enduring Memories of Hangzhou. The show is led by famous director Zhang Yimou. The name of the show is quoted from a very famous poem written by Bai Juyi (772 - 846), a great poet and politician from the Tang Dynasty. Dancers perform to magical music with beautifully lit backgrounds on the shallow water of West Lake. The performance is all on a floating platform, so that it seems like dancers are dancing on the surface of the lake. The show is absolutely a must-see in Hangzhou and a great addition to your tour.
