If you just have a short time to see the highlights of Shanghai, here are some of the the elements that you want to be sure to include.
Local food - While there are many great popular restaurants, you don't want to leave without sampling some of the traditional noodle houses or even street food such as dumplings or Chinese donuts.
A great view - To see the whole Shanghai and get a feel for its breadth, be sure to add at least one of the viewing sites from the Pearl TV Tower, World Financial Center or other Shanghai skyscrapers.
Traditional gardens - Shanghai has many historic and beautiful gardens. Yuyuan garden is always a great choice, but we have many other amazing gardens close to Shanghai.
Shopping - Of course you'll want to bring home some memories such as silk, pearls or even some custom-made clothes from our many amazing tailors.
Outside Shanghai - To get a real feel for traditional China, you'll want to travel an hour or so outside to see more rural China. You can also experience China's amazing railways, especially our high-speed trains.
Religious history - You shouldn't miss seeing a historic Buddhist temple such as the beautiful and spiritual Jade Buddha temple, but there are many more you can choose from.
People watching - Don't forget to just spend some relaxing time having tea in a local tea shop and watching how the Chinese people ebb and flow in their daily lives. If you're adventurous, you can always strike up a conversation and meet new friends! We're happy to translate for you.
